Holiday Cookie Exchange – Melting Snowmen Balls

Dear Readers,
It’s time to share recipes for holiday treats!  Yum.  A gaggle of sexy bloggers are kicking off the holiday season in style with the 10th annual recipe exchange!  Jz from A Reluctant Bitch encouraged us to post a favorite holiday treat recipe today.  Bless her heart and many thanks for pulling this together! So you can see holiday treats all over this part of the blogosphere!  And drool over something other than my cleavage today!  The recipe I picked is below, and then further down are the links to the other blogs sharing their tasty treats!
I adore cookies!  Cookie Monster is my favorite Sesame Street muppet.  Om nom nom.  I am not much of a baker these days, but I used to help my mom make hundreds of cookies for church events – from lebkuchen (that had to be started a month ahead of time), to sugar cookies, currant bars, icebox cookies, shortbreads, thumbprints with raspberry jam, molasses cookies, spritz, ginger bread men, and something she called “snowballs.”  See my cookie post from 2012 about those!  Ever since I’ve been hooked on eating balls of all kinds!
In 2013, I shared Noreen’s easy recipe for Oreo Cookie Balls.  There was even a video to make prep extra easy!

The 2014 entry was an amazing recipe for toffee cookie balls from Snackworks!  With only four ingredients!  And three steps!  And NO BAKING!  I could do that!  More balls made of cookies! With chocolate and toffee!

For 2015, I shared something a little more exotic – doggy style cookies.  They still had balls on them!
The 2016 post was an easy no-bake recipe with caramel, chocolate and nuts that turn into TURTLE BALLS!

In 2017, I shared an easy no-bake recipe with chocolate and stuff that turns into RED VELVET BALLS!

Last year, my cookie exchange creation was a chocolatey nutty oaty delight called NO-BAKE MONSTER COOKIE BALLS!

And this year, I am sharing

MELTING SNOWMEN BALLS

Adapted from Christi Johnstone’s Love from the Oven blog
https://www.lovefromtheoven.com/melting-snowmen-cookie-balls/

Ingredients:
  • 24 Chocolate Sandwich Cookies/Oreos – divide up into 9 to crush, 15 to top
  • 3 Tbsps of Philadelphia Cream Cheese softened
  • 9 oz Baker’s White chocolate broken into pieces and melted in microwave
  • Assorted colored decorating gels

Also needed – Two bowls, sheet of waxed paper and a baking sheet, plate or platter

    Instructions:
    1) Finely crush 9 cookies in a bowl then mix in cream cheese until blended.  Roll into 15 balls

    2) Place remaining cookies on a waxed paper-lined rimmed baking sheet

    3) Melt chocolate – Place chocolate in microwaveable bowl. Microwave on HIGH 2 min. or until chocolate is completely melted, stirring every 30 sec.

    4) Dip balls in melted chocolate, place on the cookies on the baking sheet

Use a toothpick to dip the cookie balls into melted white chocolate; shake off excess chocolate then place on remaining cookies.

    5) Tap cookies on tray 3-4 times, allowing excess chocolate to pool onto cookies

    6) Decorate with gels into smiling faces

    7) Refrigerate for 1 hour or until firm.  Keep refrigerated until served.

    8) Display elegantly on a plate or platter, serve and enjoy!

    Makes 15 balls

Happy Holidays Dear Readers!  Extra hugs with groping!

Beef stew! It’s what for dinner!

    7:32 PM Sassy
Here are my easy recipe notes –
Cook egg noodles in boiling water, drain and set aside.
2 20 ounce cans of Dinty Moore beef stew
2 heaping teaspoons of minced garlic
    2 cans of sliced mushrooms
Simmer all ingredients in a pan.
Pour over egg noodles, added freshly chopped onions for crunch and topped it off with shake cheese!
Took about 20 minutes. Makes four big bowls worth. Yum!

    Breakfast Casserole

    November 21, 2018 Wednesday

    8:02 AM Sassy
Good morning kid! Have a wicked good Wednesday!
I’m working at home this morning then going to hunt for pie!

    8:35 AM Phil
Good morning! Enjoy the day and hope you find a good pie. I’m searching for breakfast casserole recipes and maybe a pie recipe. I’m going to bake an apple and pumpkin pie. Off to the beach in the AM!

    12:43 PM Sassy
Here’s the only breakfast casserole I’ve ever had – a coworker brought it to work and I asked for her recipe! I did have a bacon cheese quiche once, with bacon slices criss-crossed on top that looked spectacular.

    Breakfast Sausage and Egg Soufflé

    Ingredients:
1 ½ lbs “hot” bulk sausage
    9 eggs, slightly beaten
    3 cups milk
    1 ½ tsp dry mustard
    1 tsp salt
3 slices white bread, cut into ¼ inch cubes
1 ½ cups grated sharp cheese

    Grease a 2 X 9 X 2 inch pan.
Brown crumbled sausage in skillet. Drain well on paper towels.
In a bowl – mix eggs, milk, mustard, & salt. Stir in bread, sausage,
    & cheese.

Pour into prepared pan and refrigerate overnight.

Bake uncovered at 350 F for 1 hour.
    Serves 10…makes large servings.

    12:44 PM Sassy
I just braved the grocery store to get a pie and picked up Dunkin for Hubby – he’s got a bad cold. The payroll is done… not sure what to do next?!

    2:38 PM Phil
That recipe sounds good, I’ll give it a try.
On the way home. Gotta vacuum and mop before we leave.

    2:39 PM Sassy
I’m considering toys and a nap.

    2:50 PM Phil
That sounds like much more fun!

    2:53 PM Sassy
    Nap is winning…

    2:54 PM Phil
    Sweet dreams
