Hiya Thad! How’s it going? Hope you’re hanging in.

Big news! I gave notice at work today! As of June 21, I will be outta there and off to see what “life after working” is about. Everyone asks what I plan to do? Maybe once I am gone I will have time to figure it out.

I’m a little overwhelmed at all I have to do before I go, both to transition my work and buy a new laptop, and spend all my flex dollars. Whee!

I had my annual mammogram this week, and was wondering how your joust with the cancer cells is going.

My work continues – still hoping to retire in May or June and do other things.

My community project has been busy – had a fun fundraiser over the weekend with lots of laughter and a chunk of money for a good cause.

Still finding a few inspiring photos on Tumblr. Seems like they did the big purge and then forgot about it, so some of our favorites are getting away with posting. I hate to give them any clicks but I will until I find something else. If you have any recommendations, share!

Some good days, some lousy ones

Here are answers to your questions:
I’ve got stage IV [redacted] cancer. I was diagnosed completely out of the blue. Life since then has been a fog of chaotic thoughts, feelings, emotions, etc. Anger, sorrow, tears, resignation, etc.

Stage IV means it had already spread before it was diagnosed, and so it is inoperable, they tell me. I’m taking hormone therapy, and feeling ok right now. Still have all my hair! Main side-effect is being tired all the time. And, oh, the treatment takes a toll on my libido. Total drag!

Hope you had a good day. I had planned to go off on an adventure to Maine, but the gross weather made me revise that. We ended up having an upscale Chinese lunch at Beijing in Lexington and joining the crowds at Wilson Farm to get some farm fresh goodies.

I’ve spent a few naughty minutes scrolling through Tumblr. Are you still up to look at some sexy shenanigans? The steroids they gave me during chemo made my body crap but my mind was the sexiest it’s ever been!

Wonderful to hear from you, even if your news is not so good. Wow…wish I could sit beside you and take your hand and listen to your stories. If you’d like that and can see any way to do it safely, let me know.

Please feel free to write and vent or ask for distractions or whatever! I spent 11 months in cancer treatment and know some of what you’re coping with. I like to think I could help, either by commiseration or talking of other things.

I thought of you this week – a friend was traveling in your old stomping grounds and posted photos.
