The Queen has made history with the appointment of her first black equerry, 38-year-old Major Nana Kofi Twumasi-Ankara, known to his friends as “TA.” The Ghanaian-born major moved to the U.K. In 1982 and graduated from The Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst.
As the Queen’s chief aide-de-camp, Major Twumasi-Ankrah, will be a visible presence by her side with the retirement of Prince Philip from his official duties this autumn.
